10th Street playgroup
10th Street playgroup
A fun and nurturing playgroup for 2 and 3 year old children
in Park Slope, Brooklyn
10th Street playgroup takes place five mornings a week, Monday to Friday from 8:45 to 11:30. Families can choose to attend anywhere between one and five mornings a week depending on availability.
Children are mostly aged between two and three years of age when they begin the school year in September. There are a maximum of six children each day.
The Playgroup runs from September until the following June. I follow the DOE calendar, however there are a number of dates that public schools are closed and the playgroup remains open. Playgroup is mainly closed for public school breaks such as Spring break and federal holidays.

Weekly Themes
We focus on a different theme every few weeks. Themes are chosen based on the time of year, the things we see around us and of course the children’s own interests.
Some of the themes include ‘Our Neighbourhood’, ‘Old Mcdonald’ and ‘Creepy crawlers’. We’ve even had a ‘Unicorn’ theme, a ‘Sesame Street’ theme and a ‘Babies’ theme when a few of the children were eagerly awaiting the arrival of new siblings.
We read stories, play games, role play, and take part in craft and other activities related to the themes.
Leanne
After completing my education in Early Childhood Studies in the United Kingdom, I embarked on a fulfilling journey in the childcare field. From managing a large inner city daycare to running my own crèche after the birth of my second child. I've dedicated my career to fostering a loving, nurturing environment for the development of young children.
After relocating to Brooklyn, I immersed myself in the community and joined the team at Paper Moon Playgroup, leading three and four-year-old children in groups of twelve. This fostered a heartfelt decision to establish my own intimate playgroup set in a home environment.
10th Street Playgroup began in 2018. It’s been a joyous journey watching the playgroup community flourish. It has been immensely rewarding to witness the bonds formed not only among the children, who carry these friendships well beyond our sessions but also among the parents. As we continue to thrive and evolve together, I am grateful for the opportunity to cultivate the growth of little ones and build lasting connections within our community.
